Composer and songwriter Gary Stadler combines melodic elements of world beat
and symphonic wizardry to be one of the new millennium's forerunners in new age
music.
His premier album, Fairy of the Woods, a collection of enchanted Celtic compositions
brings legends and myths of Fairy folk to life. Vocalist Laura Drew, also known
as Singh Kaur and Lorallei with previous albums, lent her voice to Stadler's 1998
Celtic inspired album Fairy Nightsongs. This album is filled with haunting melodies,
tender lullabies and timeless visions of Celtic fairy traditions.
In 2000, Gary began working with another graceful chanteuse by the name of
Stephannie. Her magical bell sweet voice and unique fairy language is also joined
by the well-known Celtic Harpist Lisa Lynne for Gary1s third album Fairy Heartmagic.
Each song like a page from a Fairy tale book, portrays both a delicate and delightful
innocence to a deep wisdom and mysterious grandeur. This album was the Runner
Up in the World title category at the International New Age Trade Show in 2001.
Gary1s fourth album, Reflections of Faerie, was released in October 2003.
Gary1s trademark piano is featured, plus classical guitar, Cello, Vocal Choirs
as well as the lovely Harp artistry of Lisa Lynne. There is a simple beauty
and magic in this sweet instrumental music, which comforts and warms the heart.
His fifth album is to follow in 2004, which is a collaboration with harpist
Lisa Lynne and vocalist Wendy Rule.
"...There’s no one quite like Wendy Rule. Her albums are always visionary
journeys full of the extremes of passion, from the most gentle to the most sweeping".
- Rip it Up Magazine, Adelaide
"...Dark, sensual, sonic theatre...compelling stuff." - Rolling
Stone Australia
"...Blessed by a voice that purrs and soars..." - The Age Good
Weekend, Melbourne(男)
Currently recording her fifth full length studio album, Wendy Rule has firmly
established herself as one of Melbourne’s most uniquely gifted and prolific
artists. Her music is a passionate union of her incredible voice – moving from
soaring heights to intimate whispers – and her beautifully dark and visionary
lyrics. Wendy’s live performances draw on her love of ritual and theatre, enticing
her audience into an otherworldy realm of power and Magic. After years of local
shows and national tours, Wendy’s music is now being recognised internationally.
She has recently returned from her 7th tour of the USA, and has also performed
in France, Germany, England and Scotland.
1n 1996, when Wendy’s first album, Zero, was released to critical acclaim
and strong sales, she had already established a strong local following. Having
sung in various jazz outfits since her early twenties, she was an accomplished
performer, but her original music brought in an entirely different element.
It was now not only her voice, but a passionate commitment to exploring the
depth of the human experience through Magic, ritual and poetry, that was captivating
audiences. Through her musical collaboration with cellist Rachel Samuel and
pianist Craig Patterson, Wendy’s music was evolving into something truly unique.
Zero was followed in 1998 by her second studio album, Deity. Wendy and her
band toured Australia extensively, including two tours with the legendary 60’s
performer, Donovan. In 1999 Wendy conceived, produced and performed in the theatrical
production An Underworld Journey, which featured several new songs that were
to be included on her next album. World Between Worlds, released in 2000, was
a remarkable achievement. Even more adventurous than the preceding albums, it
placed Wendy’s songs in a warm, evocative sound-world, the lush keyboards of
previous records replaced by the acoustic beauty of guitars, strings and percussion.
2001 saw Wendy finally take her talents overseas, touring initially to the
UK, Europe and the USA and then returning in October to the USA just after September
11. Wendy arrived in New York, a city beautiful, but sad and grieving. It was
during this trip that she wrote the material for her fourth album, The Lotus
Eaters, in a process of meditation and sorrow.
With 2002 filled with more touring, both within Australia and internationally,
Wendy released The Lotus Eaters in May 2003. Anchored in the ancient Greek myth
of Odysseus, this extraordinary collection of richly emotive Siren songs flows
on an oceanic soundscape of strings, vibraphone and guitar. Two more international
tours followed and in 2004, she released two side projects. Deep within a Faerie
Forest, a collaboration with Californian based ambient artist Gary Stadler,
is a gentle and reflective album and quite different from her solo work. Released
through Sequoia Records in the USA, it has proved hugely popular with the American
audiences. Wendy also honoured her jazz roots by recording a live album, A Night
of Jazz with Wendy Rule and Friends, with London based pianist Roger Perrin.
She returned to America and the UK in May this year to even stronger audience
numbers and a definite buzz about her work.
With plans to release her new album early in 2006, Wendy will have a busy
few months of recording, as well as touring to Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and
Darwin.(女)
